Got really surprised last Thursday (Oct3) saw a butterfly on my honeysuckle thought it was probably a viceroy because sadly I had not seen a monarch all year. But when I looked closely it was a monarch, a male. I chased him all around the yard trying to photograph him with my phone and finally he landed on the honeysuckle again. He fluttered around the yard and fields for a few minutes came back several times to nectar and finally left after being here for 10-15 minutes, I was hoping it was female & would lay eggs on some weed I had still blooming (newly planted late summer). It was nice to see one, I sure hope their numbers are higher next year, I really miss seeing them. Photo to follow. : )
