Sightings report image

Date: 10/12/2013

Number: 4

Four Monarchs were nectaring in our gardens this afternoon, with the Zinnias, Tropical Milkweed, and Butterfly Bush appearing to be their favorite flowers. All were fresh-looking, and beautifully vibrant in color; none were tagged (I used my last MW tag for a reared female released earlier today). At times, three were on adjacent Tropical Milkweed plants, bumping into each other as they flitted about to sip nectar. Such a beautiful sight on this sunny warm Fall afternoon, and I'm so happy to see them take advantage of our Waystation. Happy trails to the travelers!
