Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 10/17/2013

Number: 1

There were three days that no hummers were seen at our feeders. We thought that the end of migration through our lawn was over with and this morning a female hummer was drinking at our feeder. The temps in Indiana are in the low 40's at night - therefore we bring the feeders in at night to have the water at room temp and hang them back up before daylight. The one hummer spent hours at the feeder today. We are wondering if she will be back tomorrow for a warm breakfast! The feeder is on the kitchen counter warming and will be back out tomorrow for her warm breakfast. Hummer traffic in SW Indiana is coming to an end and I already miss it - even the cost of 125# of sugar and hours of cleaning and sanitizing the feeders while making gallons of nectar. Looking forward to spring feathered visitors -I bought two new feeders today (on sale) at Orscheln's! I hope Santa brings me a BIRD CAM for Christmas - I swear I have been a good girl taking care if my feathered friends!
