Monarch Fall Roost

Date: 10/17/2013

Number: 200

I am reporting for Patsy Ransom who frequently has fall roosts on her property. She is located east of Junction on Johnson Fork Creek.

Last night 10/17/13 she had approximately 200 Monarchs roosting in her Elm trees. They spent the night there, then began to leave as soon as the sun hit the trees. All were gone by noon.

This evening, more are coming in again, but not very large numbers. A cold front is expected later this evening, which may bring in more.

Last year on 10/15/12 she reported at least 500 roosting overnight.
