Monarch Adult Sighted
Sightings report image

Date: 10/20/2013

Number: 7

I observed a monarch, what I think is a Variegated Fritillary, an unidentified butterfly, and an unidentified insect feeding on frostweed underneath a sycamore tree, about twenty feet from a shallow pond behind a dirt dam.

I looked over the dam and saw six more monarchs feeding next to the shallow pond, again on frostweed.

The temperature was 72 degrees with no appreciable breeze - just a light gust now and then.

I belong to MonarchWatch and have their tags, so I captured, tagged and released two females.
