Our third graders planted 50 Journey North Red Emperor tulip bulbs. We planted 12 at 7 inches deep for our test garden. We also planted 12 at 5 inches deep and 12 at 9 inches deep to test whether the depth of planting affects the rate of emergence. Students also took a bulb to plant at home to see if it will emerge at the same time as our Journey North bulbs.
