Found a single female 'napping' on some zinnias late yesterday. I brought her in along with some nectar flowers. Temps were to get down in the 30's. She shivered back to life inside and was tagged and ate. This morning she began her journey south again. She was a little faded but in good shape. See photo.
This morning, while working in the perennial bed, my husband reported seeing 5 - so far - flying through our clear cut. They stopped to nectar on the butterfly bushes and other nectar plants. They are all 'troopers' and giving it their all to get to Mexico. Happy travels little ones! :)
