Monarch Fall Roost

Date: 10/20/2013

Number: 20

10/20 A substantial flight of Monarchs is in progress on the Point this afternoon . . . Moving thru about one every 90 seconds; many are starting to seek roosting sites in the bayberry and fluffy goldenrod seed heads. Watching one roost of about 20 forming right now on a bloomed-out boneset. Numbers are easily on par with many previous years here.

Just as I had expected-- a late flight of monarchs coming down the Mid-Atlantic coast on WNW, NNW and NW winds. Denise G.
