Altus and I went across the Lavaca Bay Causeway and peninsula for the first time this fall at 2:30 and counted eleven monarchs in 30 minutes. Only four were flying across the bay ... others were along the peninsula low in the grass and flowers. We figure this is the beginning of what might be a trickle starting to come along the coastal flyway. Calm, 79dF, clear, 34% humidity, low in the morning about 55. Next "real" front about the 31st ... could bring in the best flow that we usually get about the 28th on. Has been wet, pasture, between here and San Antonio, has been having a few monarchs pass thru to the SSW for a couple of weeks, nice and green there finally.
