Monarch PEAK Migration
Sightings report image

Date: 10/22/2013

Number: 30

Daily sightings of anywhere between 30-50 adults on giant lantana plant on the beach.Have been seeing them for past 4 days (October 19-22).

This giant lantana ( about 8 or 9 feet in diameter) was full of hundreds of different types of butterflies. Mon, Tues, and Wed., there were anywhere from 30 to 50 Monarchs at a time, throughout the day and as late as 4pm. Indeed there were a lot of gulf fritilliars too, as well as other types of butterflies. In fact, the Gulf Frits were still there in great numbers Thurs, Oct 24).

Yes I am 110% sure of the Monarchs. I just helped with a public presentation of the Monarchs after the dedication of or new way station last week. Our garden club has been neck deep in monarch education and have loved every minute.
