Monarch PEAK Migration

Date: 10/22/2013

Number: 49

On Tuesday our monarch monitoring intern was very excited as a little wave of monarchs pushed into Cape May Point!! The road census showed 39 monarchs in 39 minutes. I was also told that Stone Harbor Point had quite an influx of monarchs. Most of them seen nectaring on Seaside Goldenrod. A gorgeous sight!!! Unfortunately, it was rainy and cold the next day, but we were all hoping that today, Thursday might bring more monarchs to Cape May. But alas, it was very windy and cold, with the monarchs that were here, staying high in the trees on the dunes. No real movement was seen. We'll see what the next few days bring as the winds should be in their favor for migration.
