The soil hardened as a deeper plot was dug, and became significantly colder as well, to the point of freezing, at 7 inches. Two Red Emperor tulip bulbs were planted, about 6-7 inches apart. All weeds and many rocks were removed from the area. Nothing was added to the plot. The soil was healthy and good for growing. The plot was a bout a 9-12 inches wide and 5-8 inches long.
