The second grade class at Ascension Lutheran School in Landover Hills, Maryland, planted Red Emperor tulip bulbs on October 30. Although the morning was crisp and rainy, the sun came out. The air temperature was 66 degrees F and the soil temperature was 60 degrees F. We put a netting over the tulip bulbs to keep predators from eating them. We hope the bulbs will be safe during the winter and will bloom in the spring.
