Monarch Larva Sighted
Sightings report image

Date: 10/30/2013

Number: 1

I have multiple caterpillars on my tropical milkweed. Found 3 of varying sizes today, but earlier yesterday had seen 6 up on the tops/blossoms munching away. I'd thought they were mostly 3rd instar stage, but when I brought them in, discovered that their feelers are all 5th instar length. I've had 4 eclose in the last 3 days and thought they would be the last of our fall crop. Days are still up in the low 80s and nights these last few days in the high 70s. We're still sleeping with doors and windows open. None of the caterpillars are particularly dark.
