Tulips PLANTED

Date: 10/27/2013

Number: 1

This year I've planted two gardens in Vermont. They are about 59 miles apart- as the crow flies. I wonder which one will grow faster! Here are some differences between the two gardens:

The northern one, in Charlotte, is at latitude 44.31 N and 520 ft. elevation. The southern one, in Norwich, is at a lower latitude (43.75 N) but a higher elevation (1,300 feet).

The northern garden is in the Champlain Valley, which is known as Vermont's banana belt. This is because the water in Lake Champlain keeps the weather in the valley warmer during most winters.

I'm curious to see how my gardens grows compared to others planted in our state at various elevations and latitudes. People say spring comes to Vermont at different times depending on where you are. I'm looking forward to seeing what the gardens show.
