I was hiking around Bird's Impoundment Trail in the Pelican Island NWR on the barrier island. I was surprised to see three monarchs and possibly a fourth (that one may have been one of the three that flew across the pond while I took the trail around it).

Boy were they camera shy! It did manage to get one wings open shot but it's pretty pixelated :-(

I haven't seen any around our house on the mainland.
