Hummingbird Sighting
Sightings report image

Date: 11/03/2013

Number: 1

It's been a sparse week with only single hummers seen on any given day. Today, about 2:30, I spotted a rather larger hummer than the Rubies hover about 30 seconds before feeding for several minutes. It then flew off and was not seen again. It was plain except for the stippling on the throat with a small patch of color. Most likely a sub-adult male of unknown species. It looked much like the shot I took in August of a similar hummer. I'm leaving several small feeders up in hopes we will see more Allen's or Rufous as last November. Several Rufous overwintered here.
