We planted our tulips on a cool, sunny day. Because we planted in the morning, the temperature was a in the upper 40's and low 50's. By the afternoon the temperature had risen to 70 degrees F. We have decided to record the temperature of the soil each month and to also dig up one of our extra bulbs each month to observe the changes that are going on. The temperature of the soil on the day we planted at about midday was 68 degrees F.
