Monarch Larva Sighted

Date: 11/23/2013

Number: 1

I still have about 20 monarch caterpillars. Many of them have finally turned into chrysalis. I have about 12 of those.
I do bring the cats into the homemade enclosure, as soon as I see one that has hatched. I check the leaves about twice a day for newbies. I did find 2 little ones about a half inch long this morning that I missed.
I'm almost out of butterfly weed. 24 cats stripped 7 plants in 2 1/2 days. I only have 4 plants left outside with flowers, for the butterflies. Had to go "borrow" a plant from a neighbor this evening. Afraid to buy one from a large box store nursery, as I had too many die from plants I purchased from those stores.
Hope I have enough to feed these cats until they turn.
