Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 11/28/2013

Number: 1

At the feeder today, observed (at least 4 to 5 times), two separate hummingbirds (one was thin and the other seemed to be broader). After much searching on internet, we believe they might be rufous hummingbirds. We've always had ruby hummingbirds but knew nothing of this type. We have just a little penstemon remaining in the garden that they're feeding on and am trying to supplement sugar/water in the feeder. This morning feeder was frozen so may have to come up with a way to prevent without hummingbirds thinking their source is gone. This breed is definitely new to us and am hoping to learn more.
