Two Rufous hummingbirds have stayed at my front yard through an ice storm last week where temperatures dropped to 25 for a low and 30 for a high temperature for three days. They stayed very close to the house in a sage bush. I swapped out feeders every hour for more than three days keeping feeders from freezing. Both chirp at me every morning when I bring out the feeders. Several people in Fort Davis had similar experiences with hummingbirds wintering over.So far, they are both alive and looking fairly fat.
