Monarch Larva Sighted

Date: 12/06/2013

Number: 1

Before leaving for KS for 3 weeks I had a yard full of eggs and larvae. Upon returning I found one larva and every leaf on every milkweed eaten. Figuring it will take about 3 weeks for the butterflies to emerge I am hoping to have a Monarch report soon. At that time I will catch and take samples to send to University of Georga to study for presence of Ophryocytis elektroscirrha, OE for short. It is a parasite that infects monarch and queen butterflies. See www.Monarchparasites.org for full explanation. Updates to follow.
