Bald Eagle

Date: 01/20/2014

Number: 1

I've seen eagles a few times over the past 2 winters, but did not report it until now -- they have overwintered for decades near Lake Buchanan ~60 miles to the west, but more recently I believe the extreme drought in this region has encouraged a pair to nest near Lake Granger, where my property abuts the upstream WMA that is heavily forested bottomland. My family has owned this property for 60+ years and I never saw them here before a few years ago, and since I have just seen another pair flying around my rural homesite apparently hunting and happened to be working on my computer, I found this site and decided to submit a sighting report. I'll look for evidence of a potential nest over the next few days (very circumspectly).
