Monarch Adult Sighted
Sightings report image

Date: 01/22/2014

Number: 1

While visiting family in the Los Angeles, California area, I went to the Fullerton Arboretum and saw at least 1-2 dozen monarch butterflies actively flying and chasing each other around the area. I even saw a mated pair flying through the air. There seemed to be only a few nectar flowers available, and I didn't see any milkweed - but most of the park was cordoned off for maintenance, and I'm not familiar with milkweed native to this area, or even if it would be growing at this time of the year. I believe I also saw a Queen butterfly in the mix.
