Robin (WAVE seen)

Date: 01/29/2014

Number: 20

2 inches icey snowstorm here last night. I went out at 8am and put hot water in birdbath to get at the totally frozen water - took about ten minutes to melt and scrape including leaf shaped bath on ground keep nearby for raccoons to wash hands after feeding (instead of dirtying up bird bath!). About half hour later some 20 adult robins arrived - drinking away in both baths. 10:30am now, are STILL drinking away. I went out again about 9:15am to further hot water up the baths, as both had started freezing up in this 22 degree air. They all returned to bird bath within ten minutes. A couple of blue birds, cardinals, and Blue Jays showed up ..the robins chased them off!
