Tulips PLANTED

Hello Journey North Tulip Classrooms World-wide!

Our school in located in Albany, Oregon, USA. On January 10th, students at our school planted our official JN research tulips. We have developed an innovative solution by which students at our school will be able to study their own individual tulips - we are using a simple X, Y Cartesian coordinate graphing system. This will make it possible for students at our school to begin learning about geometry and graphing. Student at our school will also be developing a simple LEGO robot that will use Vernier probes to help us monitor the temperatures and soil conditions in our garden. In the future, we plan to post pictures and video links to our robot working in our garden. We also noticed today that the JN tulips students planted at this time last year have just began to emerge. We found this to be really interesting. We will be studying why this happened so early too. Temperatures here have been really wacky. We will be tracking and recording the weekday temperatures in our garden throughout our project. We plan to share this information with other schools around the world too. Please write us and tell us if you would like to learn more about our garden, our coordinate graphing system, or our LEGO robot monitoring system.

All the best,

Students at Timber Ridge School in Albany, Oregon, USA
