At I came into work this morning, a male cardinal was singing away on the property just before the rain started. Nice red bird standing out against the bleak midwinter landscape. "Cheer, cheer!" The snow has melted, the winter is more than half over!
"In the bleak midwinter, frosty wind made moan,
Earth stood hard as iron, water like a stone;
Snow had fallen, snow on snow, snow on snow,
In the bleak midwinter, long ago."
