Robin (First HEARD singing)

Date: 02/03/2014

Number: 1

Around 11:00 am, while sweeping off our driveway, I suddenly realized I was hearing the singing and chirping of a very loud bird that I didn't remember hearing before. It was on a very small branch at the tip of our Florida Red Maple (approx. 30 feet high) just singing and chirping away with a variety of sounds. No other birds were around. I don't know if it was including its "true" song or not but seemed as if it wanted the world to hear what it had to sing or say! I wasn't really sure it was a robin until I looked at it through my binoculars. It sang for about fifteen or so minutes and then sat quietly for a few minutes. And then quietly flew off, much to my dismay. We have had some of our coldest temps in decades here in the Panhandle of Florida in the last week(down into the teens at night with single digit wind chills and up in the thirties during the day).
