Today, July 15th, my wife and I were photographing butterflies in Northeastern California. Just east of the town of Adin, in Modoc County Road, we saw six Monarchs working Narrow-leaved Milkweed along the Ash Creek Road. As we were watching one particular female, we noticed she oviposited an egg on one milkweed plant! Both Narrow-leaved and Showy milkweed were seen at various locations on our drive through eastern Shasta County and into Modoc County, but we didn't notice Monarchs 'till we slowed down to photograph other butterflies...
