All Other Signs of Spring

Drove down to Side Cut Park today and was able to observe the early thaw stages of the Maumee River. There were some plowed parking areas along the bank. As I was looking for some signs of any winter wildlife,I saw 2 ducks resting on an icy area that had access to a narrow streamlike opening not far from my side of the river edge. Then all of a sudden, I spotted three more swimming upstream to join their clan!I noticed that one of them was bobbing his head quickly up and down into the icy water before joining the others. The one duck that was resting had a huge white breast the head and back feathers sort of greyish black. The ones coming out of the water,I was only able to basically see their backs while they were pruning themselves, same black/greyish head and back but noticed a white spot in the middle of each wing.Temp.14 degrees above!I must invest in a good camera! What a blessing to witness this!
