Tulips PLANTED

Date: 10/08/2013

Number: 1

Our 3rd grade students completed the first step in the program that allows for students to learn more about the mechanics of living and non-living things, make predictions on how the environment can influence living organisms, and apply the scientific process.

Students reviewed the scientific processes of observe, research, make a hypothesis, experiment, and share results. Students began by exploring a tulip bulb by cutting it open and recording observations. Then when students transitioned to planting a bulb they were able to follow directions and plant each bulb 6 inches into the ground, applying real world math using a garden hand shovel as a form of measurement.
