Robin (WAVE seen)

Date: 03/03/2014

Number: 1

Happy Monday. Bitter Cold the last 4 days with record lows all over the state of Montana. In Lewistown we broke the record day and night time temperatures on Sat. by 6 degrees. We have also had over a foot of snow around town and up to 5 feet of new snow in the mountains.

Back-country skiers and snowmobile have been ask to be very careful in the mountains. The avalanche danger is very high. A snowboarder started a major avalanche in rattlesnake canyon north of Missoula Montana and it took out an entire city block putting 3 people in the hospital. No one was killed. Today we are waiting for a warm front that will bring the temperatures back up to the average of 40 during the day and 20's at night. It's about time! it's been very quiet around town and I have not seen many signs of birds returning to this area. About the only birds moving was a flock of about 12 Canada Geese flying north on Sunday. March 15 is usually the day we see the first Robins so we will have to see what this new warming trend will do to migrations.
