Ms. McComas' class, 3D, was excited to see that 9 out of 18 emerged tulip had bloomed. It is a cloudy day, 61 degrees F. The tallest blooming tulip was 23 cm and the smallest was 16 cm. Students observed that the leaves were thick, rubbery, soft and hairy. Petals were ruby red and the center star like with brown and yellow. The petals were also waxy, flexible and delicate. One of the blooming tulips had a second bud that not yet opened. Students were surprised to see that their experimental bulbs had emerged, but more on that later.
