A red-winged blackbird stopped briefly in the yard, pausing on a shepherd's hook. At first I thought it was a starling, because it was a bit speckled, but then I noticed the yellow stripe on its wings, and a faint hint of red. I picked up the camera and took a photo through the window blinds. I was surprised because the cattail marshes around here are still pretty frozen, although we have had some thawing weather.
