Tulips BLOOMED
Sightings report image

Date: 03/13/2014

Number: 1

Mrs. Wiggins' class, 3B, was excited to see that 21 out of 21 tulips have bloomed! This is the first time that we have had ALL our tulips bloom. It was a windy day with a temp. of 51 with clear skies. The tallest tulip was 30 cm and the shortest was 21 cm. Students observed that the petals were soft, smooth, and bright, shiny red. At the center it was yellow, black and purple with what looked like a dusting of pollen. The thin leaves appeared delicate, fuzzy, cold, moist and rubbery with lines going down them. Students noted that the stems were fuzzy also. We found that a lady bug had made one of the tulips home as you can see from the picture!
