Tulips EMERGED
Sightings report image

Number: 1

Red Emperor tulips are emerging at Venable Elementary! Today our class went outside and measured our tulips. Some were big and some were small. Some emerged and some didn’t. It probably depends on the amount of sunlight. They are like a caterpillar turning into a butterfly but a bulb is turning into a flower.
We planted them on the right of the school next to the kindergarten and 1st grade. The smaller sprout was 1 cm and the color was dark red and a little bit of maroon. The biggest tulip sprout was 5 cm (2 in.) and it was different shades of green. The leaves are growing. On some leaves there is a little bit purple.
The weather is cold and then it’s warm and now it’s cold, windy. It’s really weird. We had a few snow storms. But they survived. We have been waiting for a long time for them to come up, but not all of them came up. We are hoping they will all come out of the ground soon. Our Red Emperor tulip bulbs are just peeking out while others are out and you can see the buds. It may take another month or two for the bulbs to grow.
