I walked our lot today to see if there were any signs of native milkweed growth
No signs of growth at this point….but I am seeing signs of other vegetation beginning to slowly develop
The prairie verbeena is beginning to peek out in very limited numbers…as well as a few purple thistles
I plan to walk around the neighborhood later today to see how things are progressing in the local fields
The freezes we had this year definitely had an impact on things…..hopefully that also means a reduction in tachinid flies
Last year at this time we had 1â€-3†asperula in good numbers and some in the 5â€-6†range
Nothing compared to 2012 during which by this time we had an abundance of large aperula and various nectar plants
Sunshine has been spotty but we have been getting some occasional light rainfall
Hopefully the days ahead are sunny and the temperature warm to more seasonal levels.
