We were very surprised to see that the Red Emperor tulips had emerged. They were already up a 1/2 inch. The tulips are planted in heavily mulched areas and due to the thickness of the mulch we missed seeing them initially until we pulled back the mulch in the area we knew they were in and we were thrilled by our discovery. These are the first tulips we have ever planted.
