A large flock of Sandhill Cranes (50+) flew over while I was on my walk. I heard them before I saw them and was fortunate enough to be close to home and grabbed my binoculars. Four outliers were grouped away and much lower than the rest of the flock. The main group headed NW while the 4 others flew around overhead as if to check out the scenery. There is a small lake nearby that may have looked inviting. So nice to see migrators after such a long, cold winter!
