Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)
Sightings report image

Date: 03/21/2014

Number: 1

First remigrant of the spring just showed up in my backyard at 7:03 this evening, looking for a tree to roost in. I'm on a bluff above the Rio Grande about 200 yards east of the International Border across from Piedras Negras.

Editor's Note: Monarch is pictured here with a pipevine swallowtail. Carol Cullar added: "I thought I owned that tree, but evidently the pipevine swallowtail thought it was his! He'd already gone to bed for the evening when this intruder from Mexico came charging right into his bedroom!"
