In past years, when the rufous hummingbirds arrived, they had a few spats with the resident Anna's who soon withdrew. This year, they're not fading into the background but vigorously defend their territories: we have daily dogfights at the feeders, mostly at dusk, with mixed sexes and species. It's quite a show (but, unfortunately, too dark for action photos).
