All Other Signs of Spring

Saw a monarch in an urban setting, fluttering above the traffic on Fourth Avenue in Brooklyn, one of the busiest avenues in the neighborhood. There is a park (Owl's Head Park) about twenty blocks from where the sighting occurred. It is a park where Monarchs, Swallowtails, Viceroys, Painted Ladies and Cabbage Whites are known to frequent during the summer months. I would imagine this Monarch has lapped his family and is among the very first of its kind to reach this region this year.
