Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 03/22/2014

Number: 1

My wife and I just returned from a walk in our neighborhood.
The temps are in the low 70’s today and there is a slight breeze from the south today. The skies are overcast and it was actually foggy and rainy this morning.

While about a ½ mile south of our home my wife shouted……”Look…. Look!”
I looked ahead of us and saw a single Monarch about 15-20 feet high heading right at us. It was noticeably faded and flying to the North at a good clip…

It continued past us to the North….dipping occasionally to inspect one of the nearby fields. We lost sight of it and continued our walk with a smile on our faces
It was about 1pm when this occurred….

Forecast is for a change in the winds overnight…..will be from the North at 10-15mph. More clouds and a 30% chance of rain tomorrow…..
The week ahead looks to be in the 60-70’s with more chances of rain.

Perhaps that will help with the native milkweed and wildflowers in the area
Still very little activity with the local vegetation….
