A very faded Monarch was flying south into a very strong wind from southeast at 6-12 inches above ground. Appeared to be searching for milkweed. This area is in severe drought with no rain above 0.5 inches since November 2013. There are only a few scattered Antelope Horns milkweed available for egg laying.
