Ice-Out

Date: 03/31/2014

Number: 1

It's been a horrible cold winter. There is still patchy snow on the ground and there was 10+ hours of light freezing rain yesterday with more forecast for tonight. The bright spot is recent strong winds helped break up the ice on Oyster Pond in front of my house. Even though current high temps are barely above freezing the water today is 95% ice free! A dozen Common Mergansers wasted no time flying in to dive for fish and the first Cormorants of the year also showed up.
