I found a dead ruby-throated hummingbird in my garage in Sioux Falls, South Dakota on April 1st, the day after a storm. Our temperatures had been in the low 60's yesterday and late afternoon there was a rapid temperature drop (down to the teens) with winds increasing up to gusts of 45 mph. We think the hummer sought shelter by getting into the garage through an exterior roof vent.
