I was able to get this picture of a remigrant this evening as I was coming home from work
There is a 2 acre lot about ¼ mile from my house that I pass every day to and from work
I have been seeing Monarchs there for the past week or so nectaring on purple thistle blooms
The field usually by this time has dozens and dozens of blooms….but it is just now starting to get numerous blooms
Today about 6:30 as the sun was going down there were about 2-3 Monarchs flying about the field
I only had my phone with me…..not my camera…..so I tried to get close enough to get a picture
They were obviously faded so I concluded they were remigrants
This one looked to be a female….could not get close enough to the others
Native asperula is typically abundant in this field but is not visible at this point
There is however lots of purple prairie verbeena blooming in numerous locations
Temperatures are warm and we have rain forecast for the next few days
