Hummingbird, Ruby-throated (FIRST)

Date: 04/07/2014

Number: 2

I just cleaned and hung my two feeders for the first time in the morning. At approximately 6:30 pm something zipped past my head and there they were. One at the feeder and another sitting on the branch of my Dogwood tree. I was completely tickled. These little jewels looked almost black, with bright red throats. They could not have been more than 2.5" from head to tail tip. Their sucker was at least an inch on its own. I will try to post pics with next sighting.
