Monarch (OTHER Observations)
Sightings report image

Date: 04/01/2014

Number: 1

I had a chance around noon to go outside and observe the pastures for about 30 minutes. I saw 6 monarchs flying and egg-laying. It was mostly overcast, with a light breeze, and about 78 degrees F. I noticed that there was more milkweed coming up and the few plants I had time to check had eggs on them. This photo is of a lovely female monarch laying her eggs. Her wings are faded and somewhat tattered -- she is quite heroic -- and really good at finding milkweed in the deeper grasses.
