Our whole class was working on a reflective writing assignment. I was in a tall chair near the window hummingbird feeder. We have been working on a hummingbird reading unit for the past 2 weeks, so the students are very familiar with hummingbirds. All of a sudden about 4 hands went up and said, "Mrs. Curley, a hummingbird!" As I turned to look, it darted away. They all agreed it was red and green, and that it was hovering, but not feeding. I was so disappointed I did not see it myself! We proceeded to put up another feeder and hope it returns.
